End of Year Awards Ceremony 2011 |

On Thursday, June 23, 2011, STEP will hold our annual end of the year awards ceremony. This ceremony invites existing students, staff, supporters, and past students to join us in celebrating the achievements of the year. Here is the invite for this year's event.
Some highlights from this year include:
- Students participated in projects that required them to think about their future in terms of goals, dreams, and college and career paths.
- Students attended field trips to Holyoke Community College, Westfield State University, Elms College, Northeastern University, Simmons College, and The University of Massachusetts to learn about college life, majors, financial aid, and academics.
- Students attended a two-day ropes course program in Amherst, MA where they bonded as a group, while gaining trust and confidence.
- Students attended Saturday mini-courses at Holyoke Community College, where they engaged in a high school to college and life finances simulations, as well as a songwriting class.
- 35 students and tutors ended the year at Camp HI-Rock in the Berkshires where they spent 3 days in remote cabins. They spent time on the waterfront fishing, boating and swimming. They also had a campfire and shared their STEP experiences with each other.
- 28 former STEP participants graduated from Holyoke high schools, and over 95% of them are planning to attend college in the fall.
- STEP high school mentors served over 10 different programs in 3 different middle schools.
